We're using biodiesel!

Metro Area Transit (MAT) is using biodiesel to fuel its buses during the warmer months of 2006. Biodiesel
is a diesel replacement fuel that is manufactured from vegetable oils, recycled cooking grease or oil, or animal fats. Its fuel mileage is similar to other diesel fuel.

Biodiesel benefits the environment. When it's used in buses, biodiesel significantly reduces the amount of hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and particulate matter emitted by buses. The production of biodiesel fuel results in less carbon dioxide than the production of more traditional fuels.

Biodiesel also benefits the economy by providing a market for soybeans and canola grown by our nation's farmers, including those in North Dakota and Minnesota.
