Paying for your ride: You must pay a fare by placing the correct amount of cash in the fare box or by presenting the driver with a pass, transfer ticket or single ride ticket. See our detailed fare information below for the prices of these options.

Discounted fares are available for people with disabilities, as well as people who are 60 and older, including Medicare card holders. Children up to preschool age ride free, and so do personal care attendants who are assisting a person with disabilities.

Our U-Pass program offers free rides for college students.

Transfers: You may need to change routes to reach your destination. These transfers are free on all MAT buses. If you need to transfer to another route, notify your driver when you board your first bus. He/she will give you a transfer ticket valid on the next bus. When you board the second bus, place the transfer ticket in the slot on top of the farebox.  You will not need a transfer if you are paying with the 30-day pass or U-Pass (college ID).

Bus routes are timed to help you meet your transfer.

Most transfers are made at the Ground Transportation Center; other transfer points include West Acres Mall, south Fargo K-Mart, Moorhead Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, NDSU and the Moorhead Target. Transfers can only be used at transfer points.

Singe Ride Tickets are purchased in packets of 20 and are sold at the Ground Transportation Center.

30-day passes provide unlimited rides for 30 days from the first date of their use. Passes can be purchased at the Ground Transportation Center.

30-day pass cost: 
$40.00 for adults, plus $5 one-time fee for reloadable Smartcard
$26.00 for youth, senior citizens, disabled, plus $5 one-time fee for reloadable Smartcard

10-ride cards are valid for 10 rides and expire after one year following issuance.  Cards can be purchased at the Ground Transportation Center.

$15.00 for adults
$ 7.50 for youth, senior citizens, and disabled

Summer youth passes are valid June 1 through August 31. They cost $26 and can be purchased at the Ground Transportation Center.
